5 Pairs of Non-Basic Hoop Earrings to Rock This Season

Hoop earrings are a great go-to accessory. These statement pieces never go out of style and look great on practically everyone. This staple jewelry piece can go from day to night and pair well with casual or formal wear. There’s a lot of love for hoop earrings, and we can never get enough of them.

We’ve spotted these trendy baubles everywhere from the streets to the runway. While the incorrect pair of  basic hoops can look dated, there are several modern pairs available today that make us drool.  The plain gold style has been upgraded with eye-catching lines and details, and anything unconventional and quirky is fair game this season.

Here are five of our favorites to rock this season:

1. Shashi Vera earrings, $42 (before: $60) at ShopbopShashi Vera Hoop Earrings

2. Elizabeth and James Connolly earrings, $135 at ShopbopElizabeth and James Connolly Earrings

3 Alternatives to Cara Delevingne’s Crystal Capelet Necklace

Cara Delevingne’s new movie “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” failed to impress the public. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype, and while the movie was wildly ambitious with its rich fantasy universe, the acting just wasn’t the best.

But while Cara may still need a few years to hone her acting skills, there’s one undeniable fact — she looked phenomenal during the movie’s press tour. Because if there’s one thing Cara’s good at, it’s definitely fashion.

One of the most stunning outfits we saw during her press tour was a black blazer and pantsuit combo by Burberry. Aside from the revealing low cut design, which surely drew in some looks, Cara also wore a stunning piece of jewelry that was hard to miss. The model’s bespoke crystal capelet necklace looked both edgy and glamorous — the perfect piece of jewelry to add drama to Cara’s dramatic look.

GET THE LOOK…PERFUME – A SENSORY JOURNEY, SOMERSET HOUSE

At the private perfume workshop at Experimental Perfume Club, I learned that scent is a story. Just like a story, it has a beginning, middle and end. Just like a story, the beginning must draw you in with impact. The middle must have imagination and emotion; at the end must stay with you long after you’ve walked away.  My sensory journey through contemporary scent at Perfume Exhibition at the Somerset House inspired me to create my own GEM perfume but also taught me that perfume is becoming a different kind of cultural experience; rather that being like a casual accessory, it is a key to express personality, mood, past and aspirations. Similar to jewellery, perfume takes on narrative, behaving less like an accessory. This multi-sensory exhibition runs until 23 September and  features ten extraordinary perfumes and their pioneering creators, who have radically changed our perceptions of fragrance over the last 20 years! This exhibition will take you on a journey through a series of rooms designed to reflect the inspirations of the scents, from the Moroccan desert, a Catholic confessional, a water theme park to a lover’s boudoir. My favourite room is the scent of Paris in spring when lilacs bloom, an abstract interpreation of traditional floral scent. Made for Frederic Malle, the first perfume house to credit the perfumer on the bottle.

Perfume – A Sensory Journey, Somerset House until 23rd of September.

Loveness Lee Ammil ring screams style and daring, and speaks to my passion for self-expression and jewellery that has a story to tell. A definite conversation opener, and a real statement piece with a poetic aesthetic, I love pieces of jewellery like this! Even Loveness Lee’s description of the ring made my imagination go wild!

What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Ammil:  An Old English term for ‘enamel’ used for those warm winter days when the whole of Dartmoor is transformed into a glistening ice crystal palace. Ammil is the thin layer of ice that coats every leaf, twig, and blade of grass after a flash freeze. On the perfect day, the whole moor sparkles and glitters like a diamond encrusted landscape.

Let me tell you a secret – serendipity is my favourite part of life. So, it was a happy moment when I got engaged in Venice a few months ago and discovered the word was engraved on my engagement ring. Serendipity plays a big part in the Loveness Lee design process and the shapes, colours, and textures that come out of it. Although consistently recognisable, it’s never predictable. Loveness Lee describes it as a ‘trans-natural’ concept created when nature, science, and art work together in harmony. The result is always unique and of course, serendipitous!

Individually cast in bronze with applied patination, each Loveness Lee Ammil ring is gold plated to preserve the desired effect and finish. This ring was made in Loveness Lee’s London workshop using cuttlebone casting and patination to create a unique colour and texture in each piece.

Loveness Lee Ammil ring is available online for £375.
